Ken Marino of Burning Love wins a Streamy“Burning Love,” “Cybergeddon,” and “Electric City” take top honors in six categories
As award names go, Oscars and Emmys seem to come out of left field, but “Streamy” is a perfect name for an award honoring excellence in original online video programming. At the Third Annual Streamy Awards held last Sunday in Los Angeles, Yahoo! programs walked away with a half-dozen of those aptly named awards, led by the popular and critically acclaimed comedy “Burning Love.”
Here’s the lineup of Streamy awards won by Yahoo! original programs:
- Best comedy series: Burning Love
- Best male performance: Ken Marino, Burning Love
- Best ensemble cast: Burning Love
- Best guest appearance: Ken Jeong, Burning Love
- Best female performance, drama: Missy Peregrym, Cybergeddon
- Best animated series: Electric City
We see the awards as recognition of Yahoo!’s commitment to creating top-quality and engaging original programming that deliver highly desired target audiences to brands and marketers. Yahoo! produces more than 50 original video programs a month, which include 22 of the top 25 most-watched online shows (and all of the top 10). Our original shows are seen by 35 million people a month in the U.S.
All this means more opportunity for advertisers. Surveys show that online viewers engage deeply with their favorite video content and prove especially receptive to advertising, and more brands and advertisers are leveraging that appeal. In the U.S., video ad spend is predicted to grow 38% and hit $7.11 billion by 2015. Earlier this month, we signed a groundbreaking sponsorship deal with PHD, in which the U.K.-based ad agency bought all inventory for the second and third seasons of “Burning Love.”
Congratulations to the casts and crews of the three honored shows. Winners of the Streamys are chosen by a panel of experts from across the industry, including artists, executives, producers, and journalists. The Streamys live event is produced by Tubefilter and dick clark productions.
