Two helpful blog resources keep you up to speed on both the consumer and platform sides of the search advertising coin
While perusing other industry blogs, we came across two particular posts that search engine marketers should know about---a new series of blog posts offering insights into Yahoo! consumer search behavior, and the announcement of new targeting improvements on Bing Ads.
Yahoo!’s Yodel Anecdotal blog has a new series of posts that gives up-to-date reports on what’s spiking and buzzing in Yahoo! Search results---info that shows marketers what’s on the mind of search users. For example, on Inauguration Day last week, searches for Michelle Obama spiked nearly 8,000%, with users specifically searching her dress, coat, belt and where to buy them. January 23 was “National Pie Day,” and the blog reported that searches for the most popular pie (apple) spiked 278% over the entire month. Plus it showed pie-searching trends since 2010 with…wait for it…a pie chart (!). Keep your eyes peeled to Yodel Anecdotal for more of these posts, and for even more valuable consumer search insights follow @YahooSearchData on Twitter.
Now that you know what’s on the minds of search users, read up on new targeting enhancements from Bing Ads so you can better reach them. Coming in February, this enhancement streamlines how two types of targets---campaign and ad group---work together. If your SEM campaign includes targets associated with a campaign and an ad group, soon both types will be considered when targeting your ad.
We’ll keep bringing you more search news you can use. Stay tuned.
