Our Ad of the Week is an immersive automotive experience with 360-degree rotation, vertical carousel, videos, and hot-button interior.
A game-changer. That’s what Mazda calls its completely reengineered 2014 Mazda6. And to show off its many new features, the carmaker ran a custom homepage takeover ad with an impressive virtual showroom on yahoo.com.
The Mazda6 is something to brag about. It was a finalist for World Design of the Year at this year’s World Car Awards. And to drive home the game-changer theme, the ad’s frequency-capped auto intro features Olympic high-jumper Dick Fosbury, whose revolutionary back-first technique (dubbed the “Fosbury Flop”) forever changed the event.
After the intro, the ad becomes a two-fer with a 635x100 mid-page unit and a 300x250 east unit. Clicking the latter leads you to the Mazda6 website. Hitting the former steers you to a full-page 1260x790 virtual interactive showroom that lets you explore the car inside and out.
Drag your mouse across the all-new body to view it from every angle. The up-down arrows to the left let you control a vertical carousel to explore the car’s body, interior, chassis, and engine. Cap off the joyride with a spin through the image gallery, video spot, and interior with mouse-over hot spots that highlight the Mazda6’s technical wizardry.
The Mazda6 showroom lets users immerse themselves as deeply as they want in tons of comprehensive content on the new car.
