Marketers Take Manhattan: An Advertising Week Preview

Technology at the forefront at the world's largest annual gathering of advertising, marketing and media professionals

Next week, New York City will host the ninth annual Advertising Week conference from October 1 through 5, drawing thousands of industry players from around the world. What happens when that many ad people gather in one place? A lot of idea sharing, inspiration, deal-making, learning, late-night socializing…and an enormous strain on local mobile networks.

Times Square will be the center of the action, with more than 200 events happening in and around the area. With that much thought leadership packed into one week, marketers at all levels will come away having learned something new, and added legions of colleagues to their professional networks.

Yahoo! will be out in force, as well. Here are just a few places where you'll find us:

  • Emerging Ad Models for Mobile and Social — On Monday, October 1, at 5 p.m., Yahoo! Vice President, Sales — Social and Mobile Innovation Patrick Albano will be on hand at OMMA Social at the Marriott Marquis to describe our cutting-edge mobile and tablet advertising opportunities, as well as industry-leading social solutions.
  • Premium Content, Everyone's Doing It — The next day at 12:15 p.m., Yahoo!'s Head of Creative Development Brian Hunt will be at OMMA Video at the Marriott Marquis, discussing the importance of top-quality content in a digital world filled with so much choice.
  • Premium Digital Content — Myth or reality? — Continuing the premium content theme on Wednesday, our own Erin McPherson, Vice President and Head of Original Content & Video, will be on an Advertising Week panel set for 6 p.m. at The Times Center.
  • Sports Media & Sponsorship in a Cross-Platform World — Rounding out the week, on Thursday Yahoo! Vice President, Sports, Games and Entertainment Ken Fuchs will join a host of other brand-side sports marketers in this 11:15 a.m. panel discussion at the 10thannual IMG Sports Marketing Symposium at the Crowne Plaza Times Square.

We at the Ad Blog will be on the scene too, covering a number of events and capturing daily highlights through blog posts, Facebook updates, and live tweets. If you're an avid Twitter user yourself, be sure to follow the event's official hashtag #AWIX, which is already seeing a huge surge in conversation volume this week as everyone gears up for the big event. In addition, our intrepid video crew will be there to talk to attendees and capture the pulse of Advertising Week.

See you all next week!
