Every day, 40% of tablet and smartphone owners cruise the Web while watching TV, giving marketers many new avenues to reach them
The more screens, the merrier---that's what online shoppers think, according to this infographic from a new Nielsen report that shows a growing number of consumers using their smartphones and tablets to surf the Web while watching TV. And whether they're shopping, emailing, or checking their social media accounts, more screens means more consumer touch points and opportunities for marketers.
The Nielsen report shares insights into the habits and demographics of multi-screen consumers that marketers can use to shape their campaigns, such as:
- 85% of all tablet and smartphone owners use their devices while watching TV
- Nearly 50% of smartphone users 25-34 visit social network sites while watching the tube
- 36% of tablet users 35-54 go online to learn more about the TV shows they're currently watching
