75% of top 20 most-shared video ads from last year’s game launched before Super Sunday
Video ads are the fastest-rising category of online ad spend, and they’ll play a starring role in this Sunday’s Super Bowl. (They hit hard in Yahoo!’s Super Bowl campaigns, too.) This week’s infographic, based on research by Unruly Media, shares insights into the rapid growth of Super Bowl videos ads, best practices from past campaigns, and secrets to creating shareable video ad content with legs like Super Bowl running backs Frank Gore and Ray Rice.
The infographic shares meaty metrics that marketers can really use, such as:
- Super Bowl video ads increased 129% from 2011 to 2012
- 55% of shared video ads from Super Bowl 2012 occurred nearly two months after the Big Game
- The top 10 video ads for Super Bowl 2012 averaged 83 second long---31 second longer than 2011
- Americans will spend $10.8B on beer for Super Bowl 2013, enough to buy 10 B-2 Stealth bombers
Okay, that last bullet is off topic, but it is from the infographic. As a bonus, here’s Unruly’s list of top 2013 Super Bowl video ads that have already taken the virtual field from brands like Coke, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen, whose 2011 Super Bowl ad “The Force” was just named best car commercial of all time. Tackle the full infographic after the jump.
