Our Ad of the Week is a billboard bursting with super-heroic interactivity that lets you leap over tall rich media in a single click.
Warner Brothers’ “Man of Steel” is a summer blockbuster that offers a fresh take on the saga of Superman and stars Henry Cavill as everyone’s favorite caped extraterrestrial. “Man of Steel” recently soared across the digital skies of the Yahoo! homepage with a billboard ad that’s got all the promo powers needed to put viewers in the Superman spirit, including a video player, photos, downloads, special features, and a virtual ticket booth.
Here’s how it works.
After the frequency-capped auto intro teaser trailer, the user can close the 970x250 billboard to restore the live page content or continue exploring the billboard.
You have your choice of two different 30-second trailers in the video section. The photo gallery features high-res stills, and the downloads section includes wallpaper and posters for all devices and screens, along with a poster customized for your Facebook profile cover.
Most awesome of all is the features section, which serves up two different super games as well as nifty glyph creator. Step into the boots of a native of Krypton to discover your ancestral glyph house and name in Kryptonian, which you can then download and share with your fellow superheroes and nemeses.
At that point you’ll be ready to fly to your local megaplex in a single bound, which is where the handy zip code box and ticket booth come in.
The “Man of Steel” homepage billboard is a fully immersive experience that straps a cape on your back and empowers you to fly through the ad’s many worlds at your own pace.
