We kick off a new round of Agencyfests in Boston with five meetings and an oompah band
Any event with the word "fest" in its name sounds promising, and Yahoo!'s "Agencyfest" lives up to the billing. Agencyfest is actually a series of business/networking events that we host with ad agencies across the country, where we discuss industry issues and trends, showcase our latest and greatest offerings, and then wrap things up with a networking party. (That's the "fest" part.)
Last week's event in Boston kicked off our third season of Agencyfests. In one whirlwind day, the Yahoo! team met separately with five Boston agencies: Mullen, Digitas, iProspect, Hill Holliday, and Media Contacts.
Yahoo! executives and experts presented on three main topics that the agencies had expressed interest in—social, mobile, video, and research studies by our Insights team (on tablets, video and the multi-tasking habits of online consumers). All told, 200-plus media planners, strategists, creatives and other agency personnel attended the content sessions.
Yahoo! hosted 250 agency clients and partners at last week's Agencyfest event in Boston
Later that night, some 250 agency folk attended our networking get-together at the historic Old South Meeting House in downtown Boston. The meeting house has seen a few centuries' worth of parties, including one where 5,000 colonists came to plan the Boston Tea Party back in 1733, but not one like this. Yahoo! transformed it into a German beer hall for a rousing Oktoberfest party (the traditional theme for our Boston Agencyfests), complete with German food, beer and an oompah band.
Next stop on the Agencyfest tour is Atlanta, where we'll meet with seven agencies on Nov. 7-8. After that come events in New York, Toronto and San Francisco. The season may expand to include Dallas, Chicago and Los Angeles in the future.
