A trio of updates that can help you advertise in search results bigger, stronger and faster
Many people make New Year's resolutions to lose weight, stop smoking or otherwise improve their lives, but we all know that the majority end up jettisoning them by the time the calendar turns to February.
Update: Microsoft adCenter now offers even greater enhancements, including a new search ad format and more.
But not Yahoo! and Microsoft: We've launched three new enhancements that improve adCenter in various ways, and advertisers stand to benefit through greater ease-of-use and potentially better campaign results.
Here's where adCenter is keeping its 2012 resolutions:
1) Mobile ad targeting refinement
More options have been added that enable advertisers to target their ad campaigns to specific smartphones and other devices such as tablets. With this change, you can create and customize specific campaigns based on device type, to better target potential customers and improve your campaign performance.
Targeting options among mobile OSes include Windows Phone, iPhone, Android and Blackberry. The targeting options for tablet OSes are iOS, Android and RIM.
2) Increase to ad description character limit
To better align with industry standards, adCenter's maximum allowed characters in ad descriptions has increased from 70 to 71. With this change, you can more easily import ads from AdWords to adCenter without the need to modify your ad descriptions. This will apply both in the adCenter UI and when using adCenter Desktop.
3) Home page dashboard budget gadget enhancement
The simplified and interactive budget gadgets on the home page dashboard have now been synced to display formatting and data parity. This enhancement allows advertisers to get a campaign budget overview without requiring any additional plug-ins or programs, such as Silver Light.
