Yahoo! Movies and Summit Entertainment get into the Halloween spirit with a custom pushdown promoting new spine-chilling movie "Sinister"
Summit Entertainment's "Sinister" stars Ethan Hawke as a true crime writer who moves his family into a house previously occupied by a family murdered there just a year before. It gets creepier when Hawke finds several home movies dating back to the '60s that reveal every family that's dwelled in this abode has met a grisly end---and a sinister demonic entity eerily appears in scene after scene.
It's hair-raising stuff, and Summit made scary-good use of Yahoo! Movies colorful digital canvas to create a rich media trick-and-treat.
Like all tales of terror, the custom rich media starts innocently enough with a 300x250 box of fright on the right and a 970x65 sharp edge along the top. After a brief auto intro, frequency capped at once per day, it's up to the intrepid user to step into the haunt.
The 300x250 flips out (in wailing hysterics) to a 500x250 with webcams and trailers in addition to a kinetic photo gallery and get tickets link.
If the user's stomach is still stable, clicking the north banner buries the page alive in a 970x415 portrait of home life gone to hell. Here you have a few more interactive treats, including a TV (blood)spot and social buttons, to sate your thirst for the macabre.
The blood-soaked "Sinister" custom pushdown doesn't shy away from making full use of the digital space to create a fully realized—and fully chilling—interactive and immersive experience.
Click here to step into the house---if you dare.
