Starz runs an exciting, expandable multi-video ad for its new swashbuckling drama on the most famous multitasker of all time.
You know Leonardo da Vinci as an artist, inventor, engineer, and mathematician. Starz expands his already stuffed resume to include adventurer, swordsman, and lover in its new series “Da Vinci’s Demons,” which kicked off on April 12. To build excitement and audience for its new series, Starz ran a dramatic multi-video ad on Yahoo.com that’s a rich media work of art.
Set in Florence circa 1480, “Da Vinci’s Demons” imagines a twenty-something Da Vinci grappling with his creative powers while doing battle with the malevolent forces who despise him for it. The series is the brainchild of David S. Goyer, a prolific Hollywood screenwriter whose credits include the “Dark Knight” trilogy, and the videos offered in the expandable ad provide an exciting introduction to his new work.
After the quick auto intro capped at once a day per user, the ad remains parked to the east as a static 300x250 unit. A user-click expands it into to a 770x550 screening room.
Users can then watch a trio of bite-sized videos to whet their appetites for all things Renaissance, including 30- and 60-second spots taken from the show and a 90-second behind-the-scenes trailer.
Starz’s custom video expandable ad is a cool interactive invitation for users to check out Starz’ take on history’s greatest multitasker.
