Samsung is promoting its trailblazing Galaxy S III with a custom pushdown that celebrates Olympic athletes who blazed trails of their own
One of the slick features of Samsung's new Galaxy S III smartphone is its ability to share photos and videos with other Galaxies with a simple tap of one phone against the other.
Samsung and Yahoo! are playing mixed doubles on the Memorable Moments page of the Yahoo! Sports London 2012 site to spotlight the Galaxy and specifically this tap-to-share feature.
The ad starts as an arch framing the live page content with rich wallpaper featuring the Olympic torch on dual Galaxy screens. When the user accepts the rollover invitation on the 970x60 north banner, the banner pushes down to 360 pixels to show a clever video spot of Olympic athletes running with the torch-emblazoned Galaxy, tapping the phone of the next athlete in a sort of virtual Galactic relay race.
Next to the video are links to short documentaries narrating legendary moments of Olympic yore. Clicking any of those will spawn a window featuring a 575x460 screening room paired with a fiery, animating 300x250 Samsung Galaxy ad.
Yahoo!'s Memorable Moments page, which celebrates past Olympic marvels, is the perfect digital arena for a modern marvel like the Galaxy S III. Better yet, this ad is no spectator sport. The user can interact and explore the ad, getting to know both the Samsung Galaxy and a galaxy of Olympic legends.
Click here to relive the memories.
