New Ad Land Cartoon: The Worst Part of Being an Agency Creative

Every day, agency creatives pump out new ideas--- and worry that the well will go dry

A couple of months ago, Ad Land focused on the best part of being an agency creative, which is dreaming up new ideas. Now our David T. Jones covers the worst part of the job---which is also dreaming up new ideas.

Creatives are magicians who pull ideas out of thin air every day, says David, who’s been a creative his entire advertising career. And every day, they worry that they’ve done their last trick and there’s nothing left in the hat. But isn’t this doubting and questioning an integral part of the creative process, a kind of quality-control measure that can lead to better work? It sure inspired a great Ad Land cartoon.

So relax, take a little advice from Alfred E. Neuman (“What, me worry?”), and strut on over to check out the full cartoon.

David T. Jones is the creator of Ad Land and chief creative officer at Third Street, an "attention agency" that he co-founded in 2009 after a long career at FCB Chicago. Ad Land has been featured in AdWeek magazine, beaucoup blogs and the book, The Creative Process Illustrated. Follow David on Twitter.
