New Ad Land Cartoon: When Life Imitates Advertising

A cautionary tale about loving another agency's good work a little too much

It's only natural to be inspired by great advertising that you really admire---and feel a healthy challenge to match or even outdo it. If you fall short, however, what began as admiration can morph into its evil twin, envy, and before you know it, you're living in a soap opera. Or a DirecTV commercial.

In this week's Ad Land, David confesses how his love for the DirecTV campaign by Grey NY took a sharp left at jealousy and almost led to disaster. I think it's hilarious, and man, can that guy draw. Makes me want to pick up a crayon and … ah, never mind.

Check out his morality play for marketers after the jump.
